Oxygen
Dear Readers,
Flowers need oxygen to survive. They require oxygen for cellular respiration and need adequate air circulation and ventilation; low oxygen levels in the root can lead to poor growth.
Do you ever feel a sense tightness in your chest? Like it takes extra effort to catch a breath.
Maybe you are very busy. Stressed. Scared or worried. Hurt.
Your breath becomes shorter and you gasp for air.
Some of us may not have had this experience, but many of us have.
If you have ever felt this way, you have learned to appreciate the power of breathing.
Sometimes, we all need to take a step back sometimes to simply breathe. To reflect. To feel.
When you are in touch with your breathing, you are better in touch with yourself and your body.
You simply breathe in and out slowly. When you breathe with intention, it is almost as if you can feel your heart-beat.
In one of my courses, we practiced “heart breathing” in which we would breathe deeply and picture our heart.
This made me reflect on how it is a blessing to simply breathe and feel alive. Your heart beats on average about 100,000 times a day and keeps you thriving.
What gives you oxygen? What makes you feel alive? And by contrast, what constricts your breath?
Find your sources of oxygen. Maybe this involves a walk in the park or on the beach. A swim in the ocean. A trip with your family. A coffee with a friend. A good book. A journal entry. A favor for someone else.
Just like flowers, we need adequate oxygen to survive and thrive. Take time to breathe deeply and be in touch with your breath. Picture your heart and think about how you can treat it with kindness. Find your sources of oxygen that allow you to breathe deeply, freely, and make you feel alive.
Love,
Samantha
