Nest for Two
Dear Readers,
When two birds lie in a nest, it is just them.
Their peers and the outside world surround the nest, but do not stay in the birds’ home with them.
They chirp and play in the comfort of their space without others. When they go out, they socialize, but when they are home, they cherish time the two of them.
They know the sound of each other’s chirp. They know the safety they feel next to each other. They know when each other needs extra warmth some days, and when they need to close their eyes for a bit longer.
When the birds separate and go on their way, they carry a piece of home with them but have their own interactions in the outside world.
I was thinking about how what happens in interactions between two people is really only understood by them two. Only they understand the feeling and comfort of each other in a way others wouldn’t. Only they know how they act and feel at home. How they laugh and play. How they joke and tease. How they rest and recover. How they support and care. How they feel about each other. How they connect with each other.
Their laughs. Their touch. Their gaze. Only they know.
That’s what makes the nest so special. It is a sanctuary that only they know.
It can be difficult when people try to bring the outside world in. They might ask advice of others or share stories about their life at home. They may receive opinions. They might hear about others’ lives at home or interactions.
But the nest is really only understood by its inhabitants. Sometimes it is best to keep life at the nest between the two birds.
Love,
Samantha
