White Coats
Dear Readers,
In the wintertime, pine trees wear white coats. The branches and leaves carry the heaviness of snowflakes, but they are protected. Protected from the cold, sometimes frigid and painful winter air.
We all go through seasons in which we wear white coats. We feel weighed down. We feel stuck to the ground.
Like we can’t move forward, so we stay put. Wearing our heavy coats. We protect ourselves from potential harsh winds.
We may feel warm and protected by our coats temporarily, but over time, they feel so heavy that they almost suffocate us. Like we can’t breathe. We begin to feel an urge to take them off.
We want to be free. To say what we want to say. To do what we want to do. To feel what we want to feel.
But we’re often scared. We’re scared to move. We’re scared to feel. We’re scared to do.
So, we stay stuck. We stay covered. We stay protected.
In our white coats.
All of a sudden, the temperature outside begins to rise and the sun shines a little brighter. Spring emerges. And the coat becomes just too heavy to bear.
Our skin craves the sun.
It becomes time to release. To be free. To take the weight off of our shoulders.
Whatever is weighing you down, remember that most of us do not wear coats during every season.
When you are ready, you can release the heaviness. Release whatever is weighing you down and seek whatever place, person, hobby, etc. that makes you feel free. Or resolve whatever is constricting you.
This may mean simply seeking peace, or whatever it is that makes you feel alive.
Learn what freedom looks like for you and find that.
Whatever you’ve been too afraid to face. It’s never too late to release the coat.
Allow yourself to feel the sun on your skin.
Love,
Samantha
