Trees of Individuality
Dear Readers,
The other day I passed by a line of trees and noticed that they all varied in texture, size, shape, and color. Each tree had a unique quality that could not be replicated and made it special.
Just like trees, each of us have our own distinct characteristics that make us different from each other.
We have our own passions, personalities, preferences, laughs, appearances, styles, and talents. Our qualities that differentiate us make us special.
If we were all the same, life would feel mundane. Not only would we lack our own sense of individuality, but we would also experience more superficial relationships as the depth of our connections often stems from our sense of appreciation for, interest in, curiosities about, and desires for certain individuals who speak to us based on who they are.
What makes us unique as individuals is what connects us with each other, as we learn to find our people by being naturally drawn to them based on the qualities that they specifically possess.
You cannot be a different tree, and you also cannot replace a tree. While we all can grow and evolve over time, we stem from strong roots of our own individuality. We are built the way that we are.
When we learn to see and understand people for who they are and get to know each other, we discover who we love. Because it is though seeing people for what makes them special that we find who truly speaks to us and feel naturally connected to.
Sometimes we learn this lesson through trying to see aspects of specific connections in other ones, only to learn that each connection carries its own unique dynamic that cannot be replicated as it is formed based on the complex qualities of the two individuals involved.
Whenever you have a chance, look at those you love and learn to understand and appreciate what it is you love about them. Because you will never find what makes them special in someone else, and you will never connect with another the way you do with them.
Love,
Samantha
