Y

Dear Readers,

Growing up, my grandfather, Papa, and I would go for walks in the reservoir, and he told me to look for letters in the branches.

Together, we read nature.

Recently, I walked in the park and looked closely at the trees.

I noticed all of the Ys in the branches. The branches form a continuous, repetitive pattern of Y.

Like trees, we are filled with “whys”.

We have so many questions, but sometimes so little answers. Especially when it comes to why.

Because there are aspects of life that we may never understand.

Sometimes, a challenge is accepting that we may not have answers to our why questions.

We can think, contemplate, guess, reflect. But answers to “why” questions are often left to our own imagination or contemplation.

It is okay to not have all the answers and for things to sometimes not even make sense.

We are bound to experience uncertainty.

Just as the branches naturally form Y shapes, we are wired to question and be curious.

While we are built to ask why, our shape remains, leaving us with continuous wonders that may never be fully understood or resolved.

The shape of the trees makes them particularly beautiful and patterned. We too, should embrace our uncertainties.

Love,
Samantha
